availability of the natural rain forests as a source of supply, and the stringent regulations on
cutting down the tree has encouraged our group to plant and grow this tree on a
commercial basis. With this approach, it is not only a profitable venture but also will conserve the remaining Agarwood trees in their natural habitats. At the same time the plantation will be run in the most professional way by our partners, and will help serve the world demand for Agarwood trees.
Agarwood, when distilled into oil, produces one of the most valuable raw commodities in the world. Agarwood oil also known as “Oud” is a key ingredient in some of the most expensive fragrances in the world. Top name brands like Versace, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss to name a few, all have premier fragrance lines that feature Oud Oil.
Due to its high demand and limited supply, high grade Agarwood chips market internationally for over USD 10,000 a kilogram and the distilled “Oud Oil” has a stable market for over USD 50,000 per kilogram.

The Plantation
Our partner is an Agro–based organisation that was incorporated in 1979. It is the registered owner of about 4,000 acres (1618 hectares) of volcanic agricultural land, 3,000 acres (1214 hectares) in Balung River, near the city of Tawau, 1,000 acres (404 hectares) an hour away in Merotai, and is located on the eastern coast of Sabah, Malaysia. This is a family run and family owned business.
Over the past few years, we have developed a strong and lasting relationship with the plantation owners. This relationship has a foundation that is underpinned by our
mutual core values to approach business from an ethical and sustainable standpoint.
Growth and Development in the Region
In recent years in Malaysia, Agarwood plantation has attracted many enthusiastic entrepreneurs to venture capital for its promising huge return on investment. With continued successful research into the inoculation technique, it has enhanced the level of confidence amongst the investor - both local and foreign.
The Malaysian government agencies have responded positively towards this development, and have spent millions of Malaysian Ringgit on research and studies. This has given a further boost to the Agarwood plantation initiatives in the country.
This positive development is much attributed to the stringent law enforcement imposed by the government on the extraction of natural Agarwood trees from the forest as well as pressures from the UN CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
